I always do a pocket advent calendar for my son, filled with a surprise for each day. If the little gift won't fit in the pocket, then he has a clue to go on a treasure hunt to find it.

Until recently we both worked in retail so were usually working christmas eve and never in the mood to do much, so our tradition is take away curry, put our pj's on and watch christmas films on Christmas Eve with hot chocolate!

We always make one christmas present from scratch the night before, eg a sock puppet or marzipan shapes, keeps the wee one occupied and it makes him appreciate everything (i think or hope haha)

We always give small Boxing Day presents to immediate family to keep the magic going for a little longer. A tradition that goes back 3 generations and one we all look forward to.
