Review: This is for you self care book by Ellen M Bard

This past year has seen me getting into journaling. Guided journaling in particular as I prefer the structure of a workbook. Two of my favourites have to be the Happy Journal and the Start Where You Are: A Journal for Self-Exploration . I have also recently had the oppertunity to get my hands on a new guided journal that isn't yet out until January .

This is for you by Ellen M Bard is a creative toolkit for better self care. The journal has 101 key exercises to to help us reframe our priorities and take better care of ourselves. With 9 chapters exploring Body, Mind, Feelings, Relationships, Time, Work, Environment, Creativity and Change.

The start of each chapter offers a little introduction on why each area is important for self care. The activities featured in the journal are great way of finding out what works or doesn't work for you along with a collection of tools you can refer back to and tailor to your needs.

The journal offers a mixture of written activities such as making a list of small pleasures, doodling, to do lists etc and then non written ones such as visualization in the form of body scanning, making a jar of awesome or creating a morning ritual to make you feel grounded.

With this journal there is no need to work through how it is laid out. You can start with what section or activity you feel is right for you now or even just open at a random page if you wish. For me the mind, emotions and body sections are what I feel were the areas to start on and go from there.  Those sections also happen to be the core section reccomend for if you are unsure where to start.

I've learnt a bit from the start of the book on how Ellen pressed pause on her busy life and made some small changes to what is self care and what self care means to me. I've also looked into excuses I make into why I personally stop myself from taking time for self care.

I'm looking forward to getting stuck into completing more of the journal and learning new techniques and ideas along the way.

If you are interested in this journal you can pre order a copy of This is for you over on  Amazon ready for it's realise on January 3rd 2019.

*I was sent this journal for review purposes and all thoughts are my own
