Today I'm excited to be involved in the book tour for the children's book Crab, Dab and Blenny by Peta Rainford which suitable for ages 4-8 years.
About the book
Fish friends Dab and Blenny are upset by the plastic that washes into their lovely rockpool home. Crab, on the other hand, just LOVES the shiny bright colour… But when Blenny gets caught in plastic twine, Crab finally understands the danger of plastics in the ocean.
Crab, Dab & Blenny is a book that celebrates friendship and the vast variety of life that exists in a quiet rockpool.
My thoughts
The major thing I love about this book is that it's educational. The story teaches children about plastic pollution and the impact it has on our seas and oceans. Peta Rainford explains in a simple way in this story about why it is bad for sea creatures, where it comes from and about invisible plastics such as clothing fibres and microbeads. I think this is a great book to have in schools for children to do a topic/project on. This book is great for gaining children the knowledge about how plastic is bad for the environment but also what they can do to help especially if they are next at a beach and see plastic lying around. I also have to add that the rhyming flows well and the illustrations are fun and realistic looking.
