Being Thrifty in August was tricky with all the days out and keeping Blake entertained. There are waya though to get discounts on family days out which we implemented. Next month I'm being alot more strict with spending and trying to have a low cost month. As much as I'd love to have a no spend month, I find it's not something that works well for us. Anyway here are some of the being thrifty things I've managed to do this month from deals to freebies etc.
You may have seen Skin + Me advertised on social media. I decided to give it a try this month and recieved the following for £4.99:
- Daily Doser ( personalised to my skin)
- Serum (trial size)
- cleanser (trial size)
- moisturiser (trial size)
Will I buy them again? Probably not as even though the products are great they just aren't affordable for me. I do however recommend trying them out at £4.99 as the trial sizes are great for popping in a bag when travelling.
Free day trip to Skegness
We got to go to skegness for free as a local charity was doing a day trip to visit the Eco Centre. We had a great time and got to also visit the arcades etc and do our own thing for a few hours after.
Kids eat Free
We made use of the kids eat for free deal at Prezzo.
£3 off Lush
We've been giving Blake pocket money to spend over the summer and with the Minecraft range being out at Lush he wanted some of the bath bombs. It was great timing as they had a deal on for £3 off your in app or store purchase when you download/sign up to the latest version of their app.
Free apples off a neighbour
A neighbour let us have some apples they had got from their allotment for free. We ended up using them to make an apple crumble.
£11.99 for 3 months of Spotify
I tend to use the free version to listen to music however this offer was worth it to me to have 3 months where I don't have to listen to adverts at the cost of one month. I've remembered to cancel the subscription so I won't pay anything more.
Cashback and Virgin Red points
We were invited to a friend's wedding this month and chose to get a virgin experience day voucher for the couple. So I made use of using Everup for cashback and got back £8.77 back plus went via virgin red and got 750 points. I've also been using cashback with various shops and restaurants and using virgin red to stack up points on any train journeys.
