15 Self Care Ideas for when you are feeling low

As someone who struggles with their mental health, I feel self care has to be a priority for me.  Taking care and being kind to ourselves when we are struggling helps to stop burn out. In my case it also helps me when I am feeling overwhelmed. It's also important to admit that it's okay to not be okay. 

When it comes to self care there are many types and it's important to try and focus on all areas where you can.  Self care is about looking after yourself:

Here is a list of some of the simple things that you can do to take time out and care for yourself:

- Go for a walk
- Read a book/magazine
- Diffuse essential oils or light a candle
- Write in a journal ( I prefer ones with prompts) 
- Do some mindful colouring 
- Have a bath
- Pop on a face mask
- Listen to some fun music
- Watch a film
- Dance around the room
- Eat fruit and veg
- Get an early night 
-  Chat to a friend
- Enjoy baking
- Do something creative (  I enjoy drawing and calligraphy)
- Remember to drink water
- practice breathing techniques
- Meditate ( I use the calm app for guided meditation) 
- Listen to relaxing sounds such as the sea or rain for example
- Have a social media detox 
- Eat/drink your favourite treat
- Create a self care box 
- Embrace Hyggee
- Have a nap
- Take your vitamins 

These are only a few as there are so many other things you can do to look after yourself.
