Moving house is definitely stressful and time consuming. It's not just the packing but the actual process of moving too. We have moved quite a few times and it never gets any easier. But there are things you can do to make it less stressful on you.
Declutter
Moving is a good time to get rid of unwanted items. There is no point in taking broken toys and items you won't be using with you. If you are packing yourself then a tip is to have a bin bag ready to pop bits in as you go along so you can pack and declutter at the same time.
Once you know that you are going to be moving, lists will be your best friend. When we last moved I had a few different lists to keep us organised. We had lists of things needing for packing, who you need to inform of your address change and even a list of emergency numbers.
Hire a reliable moving company
We researched quite a few moving companies and got quotes of how much everything was going to cost. Hiring a cheap man and van service in London really can make things less stressful for packing and transporting items to your new home.
Preparing important documents
Make sure you have all those important documents that you need such as the house deed, passport and insurance papers in all one place and make sure you know where they are.
Protecting items
Make sure that you label any fragile boxes and that they are packed well and safely. We used bubble wrap for a lot of our fragile items last time we moved.
