Over the years I've been pretty honest about my struggles with my mental health. It's something I've actually written quite a few posts on from moments in my anxious mind to my Generalised Anxiety Disorder Diagnosis last year.
There are things though when it comes to your mental health that can help you at times when you are struggling with depression, anxiety etc. Not everything I mention will work for everyone but these are some of the things that have helped me at times.
There is unfortunately a stigma around taking medication but it works for some people and not for others. For me it is something that I find at this current time I need. Don't let the stigma prevent you from taking something that may help you. Sometimes you may have to try out different antidepressants until you find one that works for you.
Counselling
I've had counselling at various points in my life so far when needed. There are many benefits to having counselling such as giving you time and space to work through problems, help you to regain wellbeing and balance in your life etc. There are different types of counselling such as CBT, behavioural therapy and more so it's about finding what works for you.
Journaling
Journaling has many benefits for our mental health. It's something that I never used to do but it's definitely helpful and something to consider as I've found it a great outlet.
Meditating/mindfulness
There are many great meditation apps out there, my two favourites are Calm and Headspace. I found they can be very helpful for anxiety and it's a great idea to fit in doing a session each day if you can. Headspace even have a Netflix programme which I plan on watching.
