2023 READING CHALLENGE | WHAT I'VE READ IN AUGUST

Four books this month is pretty good for during the summer holidays for me.  One was for a book tour the others are what caught my eye when I was at the library.

The Cornish Rebel by Nicola Pryce
Set in the 1800s in the beautiful background of Cornwall,  Pandora escapes her father and heads home to the UK after her late mother's death. More info on this book can be found on my book tour post here

The Birdcage by Eve Chase
I found this to be a bit slow paced but I still enjoyed it. When half-sisters Kat, Flora, and Lauren are unexpectedly summoned to Rock Point, their wild and remote Cornish summer home, it's not a welcome invitation. They haven't been back since that fateful summer twenty years ago—a summer they're desperate to forget. But when they arrive, it's clear they're not alone. Someone is lurking in the shadows, watching their every move. Someone who remembers exactly what they did...

The No-show by Beth O'leary
Having read other books by Beth O'leary this wasn't my favourite. It was definitely a slow starter however the twist was unexpected from it. I spent most of the book thinking the character Joseph was a dick but by the end totally not.

Someone else's skin by Sarah Hilary

TW: features domestic violence
This is the first book I've read by this author and loved it. It's gripping and thrilling just what i like. Called to a women's refuge to take a routine witness statement, D.I. Marnie Rome instead walks in on an attempted murder.Trying to uncover the truth from layers of secrets, Marnie finds herself confronting her own demons.Because she, of all people, knows that it can be those closest to us we should fear the most . . .
