Vita Coconut Oil #Swearbyit

Coconut Oil is a must have in our home as it has so many uses we in fact have used coconut oil on Blake quite a bit. In Blake's early months we used it for baby massage and when he had cradle cap. We still use coconut oil on Blake as a moisturizer, for soothing skin, when his bum is getting sore and whenever his skin needs a bit of TLC.
Its also great for using on yourself as a beauty product and in cooking.

Some beauty ideas I'm going to try:

- soothing lips by mixing coconut oil with brown sugar for a perfect lip scrub
- lip balm
- As a hair mask
- As an eyecream
- Handcream
- For if you get sunburn or heat rash
- Body/face scrub, just mix with sugar or sea salt
- For different skin issues
- As a massage oil

For cooking you can use it in place of any fat or oil in most recipes. Coconut oil is high in saturated fats, so should be eaten in moderation. Obviously it’s dairy-free, so perfect for vegetarians/vegans.

Storing:
Coconut oil  best kept sealed, at room temperature and away from direct sunlight. It will solidify once the outside temperature goes below 23°C. Doesn’t take much to make it melt.
When using coconut oil for cooking, it’s best to warm it until it becomes liquid.
If using as a beauty product for your hair or body, it’s best used in its solid form.

For more information about coconut oil you can check out Vita coconut website which has tons of information.

Do you use coconut oil?

Kokoso Baby: Natural Coconut Oil

I love coming across new brands and products and I love it more when I come across an item
that turns into an essential.

Mum's this product is amazing! Kokoso baby is a multipurpose moisturizer.
Kokoso is made from 100% natural and organic virgin coconut oil.

Kokoso sent me a pot so that I could see for myself how amazing the product is.
First of all I have to say Kokoso Baby has been dermatologically tested and is certified safe for even the most sensitive skin.

I also want to mention that Kokoso baby is solid white at room temperature and goes runny in temperatures over  24°C so make sure
that you open your pot gently in summer to avoid spills or keep it in your fridge.

The multipurpose moisturizer has many uses for both baby and you.
Here are a few of the uses in which you can use Kokoso baby you can find more tips over on their

Dry skin
If you or your baby have dry skin than applying  Kokoso baby throughout the day can help to hydrate and nourish. It's also helpful with skin conditions such as eczema.

Bottom Balm
I have heard of many parents using coconut oil on their babies bottom, when I was researching more
about using cloth nappies as a lot of mum's swear by it.
I have yet to try kokoso for this reason on Blake as I have so many nappy rash creams dotted around the flat.

Baby sore creases
You can dab a dash of kokoso on troublesome areas.
I have recently started using this on Blake's neck as he tends to dribble milk
down his neck frequently and it gets red and looks so sore .

Flaky newborn skin
I really wish that I had known about Kokoso sooner as this would have been ideal when Blake
was newborn as he had a lot of flaky and dry skin especially on his head.

Baby Massage
This has been the main way I have been using Kokoso.
Blake and I did a baby massage class not too long ago which he loved so
we have been massaging him at home after he has had a bath.

I have been reading the Mummy Blog and I am looking forward to trying out
other ways to use Kokoso that I didn't even think of such as ways you can use it as a beauty oil.
There is also articles on why kokoso is different from other brands of coconut oil, why its' so good for babies skin and also about baby massage so the Mummy blog is definitely worth reading.

Kokoso is now sold in Boots stores at £7.99.

If you use Kokoso I'd love to know what you use it for? if not than will you be trying it out? If you do I'd love to know your thoughts

Review: Vileda Cleaning Products

Hi all hope you had a lovely bank holiday!
I was planning to write up this post yesterday however
I came down with what I can assume was a 24 hour bug
since I am feeling a little better now I can
tell you all about Vileda.

A little bit about Vileda
Vileda has been around for quite a while in fact
as far back as 60 years ago.
Vileda products are sold in over 29 different countries.

First of all I have the must have cleaning gadget for spring 2013,
Vileda has launched the 1,2 spray mini!

Ideal for those of you who like a sparking clean with minimal elbow grease.
The 1,2 spray mini is a miniature handy  version of their best selling mop.
Whilst the mop focuses on cleaning floors the 1,2 mini is ideal for
worktops, windows, doors and glass tables to name a few.

Like the mop the spray mini's handle fills with water or cleaning fluid.
The mini has an all in one system ergonomic handle, meaning that
you can simply spray, wipe and clean.

The mini gadget removes finger prints, grease and smears from
a wide range of surfaces and I love using this to clean my bathroom
mirrors.

The special microfibre pad gives five times a better clean than an ordinary cloth.
The pads absorbs liquid and glides easily across surfaces and the pad is durable
and is easily removed to be washed in the washing machine.

The 1,2 spray mini is available in most supermarkets and retails at £6.99, with
the refill pad retailing at £2.99.

Moving on to the dish cloths the Style dish cloth is ideal for
wiping down kitchen surfaces and cleaning up spillages.
whilst the Style Sunsplash cloth  is great for using around the
home and great used wet or dry.
Both packs of cloth's retail at 99p for a pack of 2

Last of all we have the fantastic power scourer range.
The extra power scourer is fab for cleaning up super tough dirt
whilst the non scratch scourer is suitable for using on more delicate surfaces.

The 3D structure features scrubbing nodules which provide an overall
better cleaning performance.

a pack of 2 retails at £1.19.

Over all Vileda have a fab range of products that really work.
Now go and check them out here and on facebook.

Terre d'Oc Make-up remover and Organyc Make-up remover pads

Last month I was lucky enough to win these lovely skincare products
over on facebook.

Terre d'Oc is a make-up and skincare brand  that was set up in 1995
by Valerie Roubaud and Patrick Lions.
They had a deep desire to introduce their range of natural, organic and fair-traded
products to the public incorporating the exquisite colour pallets of their home region,
Provence in the South of France.

The naturally milky make-up remover is a lovely light pink colour and presented in a
environmentally friendly packaging, including a gorgeous burgundy box.

I found that the remover was very runny so I had apply it quick before it went everywhere.
However, combined with using the make-up remover pads they removed my make up
quickly and effortlessly, leaving not a trace of make-up.

Organyc is a company that sells a range of sanitary products that
are 100% organic cotton.

Organyc Organic Cotton Wool Pads are completely biodegradable and vegan.
The  quality of the organic cotton pads is clear by the soft touch of the pads.
whether you are using them to remove your make-up or for general use
as they are a multi-purpose product you will find they are super soft
against your skin.

Review: EcoForce and Dishmatic

Recently I have been sent some Ecoforce products and
a Dishmatic to review.

Ecoforce sell a range of practical and effective household cleaning products that are more environmentally friendly than alternatives which they call virgin plastic.
Ecoforce products are made from approx 90% recycled waste and work just as well,
if not even better than products that are made from virgin plastic. Meaning that by buying these products you are helping to reduce landfill and conserves fossil fuels.

As you can see in photo below I was sent a Ecoforce Peg Basket which retails at £2.99
The basket is strong and durable made from 94% recycled plastic with a handle with a hook enabling you to hang it on the line while you're hanging out your washing.
The price of the product also includes a pack of 24 Ecoforce recycled clothes pegs. The pegs on their own retail at £1.49. They are made using a unique design from a single piece of plastic, making the pegs stronger, safer and more energy efficient to produce. The pegs are extremely tough so can stand the strongest weather conditions
They are British so made from British waste. Ecoforce also sell a clothes line for £1.99 made form 89% of recylced plastic which I wasn't sent.

I was also sent a range of cleaning products which are handy for most areas of the home.
- Ecoforce Scourers
- Ecoforce sponges
- Ecoforce cloths
- Ecoforce Dusters

Ecoforce scourers retail at £1.49 a pack.I was sent a three pack of the two different types.first up is the heavy duty pads that are easy to  grip and are ideal for cleaning toughand baked on mess quickly and easily. Then there are the non scratch pads that are also easy to grip, and are ideal for using on delicate non stick surfaces without scratching.

The sponges also retail at £1.49 in a pack of 2
they are super absorbent made using 100% recycled foam are easy to grip. Each of the packs have one of each type of scourers as mentioned above.

The cloths are a favourite so far of mine and retail at £1.49 for a pack of 2
they are super absorbent and quilted  that are made from high quality recycled materials. The multi purpose cloths can be used wet or dry and extra soft which are Z-stitched for strength. They are also machine washable. As for the duster they are made from a mixture of recycled cotton/viscose and synthetic fibres.

I also love the food bag grips that I was sent which retail at £1.49
They are made from recycled plastic with a mixture of pre and post consumer waste.
They are great and reducing food wastage by keeping food fresher for longer.

Ecoforce do not compromise on the quality or the price of their products meaning that they offer a greener and more ethical choce when it comes to buying everday household products. Ecoforce products can be found in most supermarkets nationwide and oxfam, homebase and B&Q storeas well as online with Ocado.

I was also sent a Dishmatic which I love. The Dishmatic is a good quality sponge scourer with a fillable handle. The handle is  designed so that it is long lasting so that only the sponge scourer needs replacing. Its very simple to use, you fill the handle with your normal washing up liquid and then just scrub away. The handle has a cleaver cleaning angle to give better access when cleaning awkward crockery and pans.

Dishmatic also is eco friendly and helps to save money as it only dispenses as much
liquid as you need. Dismatic also protects your hands as you will no longer be submerging your hands in hot soapy water . Dishmatic is sold in all major supermarkets RRP: £1.47 refills are £1.58 (pack of three) and the Dishmatic brush is £1.99

Overall I rate the Ecoforce products and the Dismatic highly. They are great products that I will be recommending to my family and friends. I know my mum is a huge fan of Dismatic anyway so I know that she would also love the products by Ecoforce too.
